“Economics As if People Really Matter” – More Sessions!

Due to the enormous demand for places on Economics As If People Really Matter, Conor Mc Cabe has offered to run two additional courses (covering the same themes and material).

Sessions start Wednesday 6th March,  3-5 pm and then the same course will be run again from 7-9 pm that evening. Both sessions are being held at the One World Centre  (76 Prospect Hill). There are still places available for the afternoon slot but there is now a waiting list for the evening one. Please call Vicky at: 0872645344 to book a place.

The sessions will explore and demystify the world of debt, globalised credit, banking and finance, and look at lessons from the Global South. The course will be facilitated by Dr. Conor McCabe, Research Fellow, Equality Studies Centre at UCD School of Social Justice, and the author of ‘Sins of the Father: Tracing the Decisions That Shaped the Irish Economy.’

The workshops are open to all, and there is no need for a background in economics. The series is aimed at activists, those engaged in their communities, and anyone interested in how to challenge inequality, locally and globally.

We’ll be exploring the world of credit, banking and finance, and drawing upon the world of global studies and feminist economics to do so. We would encourage people to let us know what kinds of issues they would like to cover, so that we are sharing and addressing real questions and concerns

The workshops are being held at Galway One World Centre, 76 Prospect Hill, Galway and are being offered by donation. Suggested minimum donation is €3, if you can. Please send an email to Vicky at education@galwayowc.org. To book a place, indicating if you would prefer the afternoon or evening session. For more information, please call Vicky at: 0872645344
